About The Role

The Underwriting Team at Coalition will be majorly responsible for building and maintaining systems that will utilize cutting-edge technology to asess any form of cyber risk.

The engineer will be tasked with writing backend services and helping design systems that aim to achieve underwriting outcomes.

Most of the systems at Coalition are written in Python but also, Go has been used to write some services. The engineer will have to develop some discretion into choosing the right tool for the job.
ResponsibilitiesContribute high quality code against our risk-scoring, pricing, and underwriting systems
Design, develop and ship scalable backend services in a distributed environment
Interface with engineering teams, product managers, and business users to explain and improve our underwriting flow
Integrate both Coalition and third party systems with our underwriting services
Improve our data science, security team, and actuarial relationships by creating model training, serving, deployment, and monitoring infrastructure.

Requirements

1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
2. Proficiency in Python is preferred, but experience with Go or similar programming languages is also considered.
3. Capable of effective collaboration within a dynamic team environment.
4. Demonstrate passion, drive, and a strong sense of ownership as we are responsible for building systems ensuring safety for ourselves and our customers.
5. A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on software development experience – it's about the expertise, not just the time served.
